The Environmental Assessment Coordinator conducts investigations of
existing school properties, proposed construction near and at school
sites, and of District acquisitions for schools to assess environmental
impact and the feasibility of remediation and/or mitigation of hazardous
substances as defined by state and federal environmental regulations
and determines actions to be taken in accordance with federal, State,
and District standards.
General supervision is received from the Site Assessment Program
Administrator or from an Environmental Health Manager. General
supervision is exercised over Environmental Health Specialists, and
other technical and clerical personnel as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Extensive educational background related to environmental site
assessment, possessing a degree in environmental engineering,
environmental science, environmental health, geology, or other areas of
study related to the mitigation of environmental site assessment hazards.
Strong experience and technical expertise in the following key areas:
Environmental site assessment remediation, development of site
assessment strategies, scientific principles pertinent to subsurface
contaminant migration, chemical analyses involved with environmental
investigations, working knowledge of environmental site assessment
regulations, and environmental contract management.
Experience utilizing project management skills to oversee multiple
projects with competing deadlines effectively. Demonstrate strong
experience as lead for Remedial Action Plans (RAP) and Remedial
Action Workplan (RAW) development and implementation, site
assessment projects, reviewing proposal and awarding work.
Effective interpersonal skills to interact professionally with a variety of
departments and regulatory bodies including (but not limited to):
Contractors, community members, staff, and local, state, and federal
regulatory agencies such as the California Department of Toxic
Substances Control, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), etc.
