POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will teach in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs; may serve as a liaison between USF College of Nursing and designated clinical facilities, requiring some travel to clinical facilities; mentor nursing students, and engage in college, university, community, and professional service activities that commensurate with the rank Assistant Professor. Faculty can expect to teach at any of the college's three campuses (Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota/Manatee).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
TEACHING:
Face-to-face didactic, online, clinical, and lab instruction of undergraduate and/or graduate level courses. Program and curriculum review and clinical site and student evaluation.
SCHOLARSHIP/SERVICE:
Scholarly activity, publications, and presentations in accordance with university criteria for appointment in accordance to rank. Serve on college and university committees where appropriate. Community and professional service activities in accordance with university criteria for appointment in accordance to rank.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Qualified candidates will possess a PhD in Nursing or DNP from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Eligible to practice and maintain licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Florida.
Demonstrated record of achievement in scholarship. Usually will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of assistant professor.
PREFERRED:
Experience with technology supported educational methods (online or blended format); demonstrated ability to work effectively with community partners; experience with diverse learners; current clinical practice experience; experience teaching in an academic baccalaureate program.
A broad range of clinical knowledge and expertise in various settings or specialty areas (e.g., MED SURG, ICU, Hospice, OB, Peds). At least two years of relevant academic teaching experience in a clinical setting.
National certification in a relevant specialty area (e.g., CMSRN, CNE, Community Health Nursing - BC, APRN-C).
