Job Responsibilities:
This Senior Manager, Seal & Standards leads and proposes scientific strategy to ensure the proper functioning of the ADA's Seal of Acceptance Program for over-the-counter (OTC) oral care and professional products. This involves 1) contributing to the identification and screening of opportunities for new and innovative seal categories; 2) contributing to strategic expansion and reach of the program, 3) managing the work of the Council on Scientific Affairs (CSA) Seal subcommittee and 4) assuring that relevant category requirements and standards are in place to support the ADA Seal.
Must Have:
- Ph.D., DDS/DMD, or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years' experience in analyzing and interpreting scientific data, planning and executing complex projects from inception to implementation, and authoring and editing complex scientific documents; or masters degree and 11 years experience
- Proficiency with using a range of research related resources, including relevant computer applications
- Previous experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a team-based environment
- Ability to present technical and scientific information in a manner that is clear and concise to scientists and non-scientists
- Ability to develop research plans and research proposals and properly interpret statistical results
- Ability to critically analyze and evaluate scientific research, and to make sound conclusions, decisions and recommendations to ADA agencies
- Excellent oral & written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of dental research
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; SAS or Stata; SigmaPlot or similar applications
- Travel is required 1 to 2 times a year to present ADA Seal program at professional/ regulatory body meetings. Additionally, travel is required 1 to 2 times a year to attend standards meetings, which may require presenting work or speaking for ADA positions. Travel to companies and testing laboratories is also anticipated.
Nice to Have:
- Preferred areas of research should be focused on chemistry, oral sciences, with extensive knowledge in oral diseases or oral health care products
- Experience in leadership positions, including mentoring or training junior staff and students
- Experience managing collaborative activities with internal and external stakeholders
- Publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience managing collaborative activities with internal and external stakeholders
- Training/experience in basic or clinical research in dentistry
