Hours: 6am-2:30 pm
Essential Functions
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Programs Swiss machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math and geometry.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to all standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; informing Plant Manager of any needed repairs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Physical/Environmental Demands
- Typical production environment which may require daily standing up to 100%
- Ability to use and clean small tools.
- Daily lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to machine coolants and oils.
Education
High school diploma or GED and certification from technical school or equivalent experience.
Background/Training/Skills/Experience
- 5 to 10 years of related experience.
- Ability to interpret and understand verbal and written directions and interact with multiple personality types.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
- Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
- Ability to read basic measuring devices, including micrometers and calipers.
- Working knowledge of surface footage and feed rates, and experienced in calculating feeds and speeds.
- Must have the following tools in working order: Calipers, Micrometers, and Basic machining tools.
