Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time research assistant to join a clinical neuroscience laboratory at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Under direct supervision, the Research Assistant will be responsible for recruiting research subjects into various clinical research studies, conducting neuroimaging and cognitive assessments, and assisting investigators in the analysis of study data. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and capable of working independently. Individuals interested in mental health and psychosis/schizophrenia, the biological basis of mental disorders, neuroscience, and neuroimaging are especially encouraged to apply.
The position requires a high level of interpersonal skills, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field (e.g. neuroscience). Experience in a clinical research setting is highly desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is essential. Experience using statistical software (e.g. R, MATLAB) is preferred. Training in diagnostic interviewing methods, cognitive testing, and neuroimaging data analysis will be provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates the recruitment and enrollment of study participants. Assesses patient eligibility for inclusion in research. Ensures proper consent protocols have been followed for study participation.
Assists in the collection of research data, including administering cognitive assessments, carrying out neuroimaging study protocols, and performing psychiatric diagnostic interviews.
Assists in creation of study database.
Manages and enters collected data into study database.
Performs statistical analysis of research data, including creation of graphs and reports.
Provides appropriate written/oral documentation of experiments.
Recognizes problems and suggests solutions, assists in modifications.
Assists in the preparation of materials, submissions and renewals to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Conducts literature reviews and gains expert familiarity with protocols that will be used as templates.
Assists in the preparation of manuscripts and grant submissions, which may include just-in-time documents, progress reports, routing forms, and abstracts.
Performs other related duties as directed.
