Universal Avionics seeks an Instructional Designer to Designer performs duties related to instructional design, curriculum development, course maintenance, and revision support for computer based and instructor led training for the company’s advanced avionics systems. The primary audience for training is the company’s airline, business and government end users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop comprehensive online courses for UA Academy, focusing on our advanced avionic products.
- Create classroom training materials, including presentations, handouts, and hands-on activities.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure course content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards.
- Utilize multimedia tools to design interactive and visually appealing course modules such as Camtasia and Articulate
- Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and develop appropriate solutions.
- Maintain and update existing course content to reflect new product features and advancements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and assessment tools.
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate best practices in instructional design and e-learning.
- Designs, develops and implements learning and development programs for Universal Avionics equipment with consideration of applicable regulatory guidance and customer and company requirements.
- Prioritizes, managing and delivering complex learning projects
- Leads in the development and organization of web-based training content, interactive courseware, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.
- Coordinates with end users, OEM partners and training centers to develop and support training programs involving Universal Avionics equipment.
- Works collectively to improve curriculum and training processes by providing continual feedback and recommendations on existing curriculum.
- Continually looks for new and alternate methods of instruction and recommends appropriate methods and facilitates implementation when approved.
- Participates in meetings, conferences, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to refining training processes and program.
- Actively and positively promotes the company and its products and communicates leads to the sales team.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design, Information Systems, Media Design & Development or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skilled in applying ADDIE/AGILE methodologies to training processes.
- Thorough understanding of curriculum design & development, instructional design, and assessment for learning (formative assessment)
- 3+ years of experience authoring tools (Ex. Camtasia, Articulate Storyline)
- Familiarity using Learning Management Systems. Skilljar is preferred
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, web-based software and presentation software. Knowledge of graphics and video editing software is also required.
Language Skills
- Strong command of aviation specific technical vocabulary with ability to effectively communicate to a diverse trainee population. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common and/or complex inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write training material for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
