Early Childhood Music Educator
Jamberry Music is a blossoming small business that teaches early childhood music classes to kids ages 0-6 and their grown-ups. We offer group classes, birthday parties, and preschool enrichment. Our group classes are held in backyards, parks, community centers, play spaces, living rooms, park districts and preschools.
We are seeking kind, energetic teaching musicians to add to our team.
You are an ideal candidate if you:
- Love babies and young children and have experience working with them
- Are a strong singer who can accompany yourself on guitar, ukulele or comparable instrument
- Learn and memorize music quickly
- Are warm, personable and charismatic
- Are able to engage with children and adults comfortably in one-on-one and in group settings
- Are flexible and able to think on your feet
- Have studied or are studying music, music education, theater, music therapy, storytelling, early childhood education, or child psychology.
More about the job:
Upon being hired, you will start with a training period which will consist of observation and one-on- one coaching with a current Jamberry teacher. During this period, you will learn the repertoire used in Jamberry Music classes. As you become familiar with the songs, nursery rhymes, stories and games we use in classes, you will also learn the underlying goals and objectives of each piece – the reason why these pieces have been included in our classes. Jamberry teachers are provided with set lists for each class and are expected to have the material memorized and follow the lesson plan.
More About us:
We believe that the most important goal of early childhood music is to foster a love of music in our little ones and expose them to some of the many ways they can engage with music. In our classes, we introduce children to the language of music while nurturing and encouraging their natural musical tendencies and instincts.
Each class is designed with age-appropriate goals in mind. Through structured group music making, children experience positive social interaction and gain self-confidence while learning fundamental life skills such as turn-taking, self-regulation and following directions. While many of our goals are related to social-emotional growth, we have musical goals as well. Children will be exposed to steady beat, the differences between high and low and changes in tempo and dynamics. Additionally, there are opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills using our instruments and guided movement.
At Jamberry Music, our classes are process oriented. There are no wrong notes or rhythms. Regardless of what a child’s participation looks like, we celebrate effort and lovingly make space for any fear or timidity. Learn more about us by visiting jamberrymusic.com
