StrataDx is a comprehensive, CAP accredited pathology laboratory located in Lexington, MA. We are currently seeking a full-time Histotechnician to join our lab in Lexington. The schedule will be Monday through Friday 7pm - 3:30am.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Independently perform the major tasks involved in the routine and non-routine preparation of histological slides from surgical and biopsy specimens and human tissues including embedding, microtomy, mounting, and staining of tissue sections, and labeling of finished slides, according to policies and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures. Document remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests.
- Prepare standard laboratory reagents and solutions with precision
- Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Resolve routine questions and problems, refers more complex issues to higher levels.
- Maintain diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling. Correctly prepare special stains and solutions. Routinely check and verify case numbers match blocks and slides; print labels as appropriate.
- Log appropriate information into the laboratory information system.
- Follow appropriate laboratory safety protocols.
- Assist as needed to perform other related duties and special projects as required
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required, Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, preferred.
- HT/HTL (ASCP) certification, preferred
- 2+ years experience in an anatomical pathology laboratory
- Routine histology skills including specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, staining and special stains with basic understanding of the equipment used daily; including, but not limited to, embedding stations, microtomes, stainer/cover slippers and slide labelers.
- Attention to detail is a must. Strong communication and organization skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of personal accountability and work in a fast-past, high-volume deadline driven environment. Must possess a strong work ethic and able to work as part of a team.
