Program Assistant One on One: The Day Services Program Assistant is accountable to the Team Lead and Director to assist with follow through and implementation of individual program plans for adults with disabilities. This position is specifically tasked as a one-on-one support for a middle aged active woman.
.50 increase upon completion of training. Training and retention bonus available.
Work Schedule: 28 hours per week. Hours may need to be flexible enough to complete responsibilities. Monday - Friday
Essential Functions:
- This positions responsibilities include supervising consumers with disabilities with their individual goals, assisting with community outings, activities of daily living, social and communication development. Emphasis is to provide functional age appropriate programming to meet the needs of the individual.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Pass a criminal background check and health assessment
- Must be free from communicable disease
- Ability to lift up to 50Lbs. independently and assist with a transfer of up to 200Lbs.
- Must be able to read and speak fluent English
- Have the physical and emotional capacity to respond to the needs of the consumers
- Posses a sincere desire to provide direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities
- The ability to make sound decisions when given guidance
- The ability to work as a team member
- Maintain consistent, quality programming.
- Exchange support and constructive criticism and ideas with fellow staff members
- Must handle agency/consumer’s activity funds responsibly and accurately
Working Conditions:
- This position will be working primarily with one individual. Days will be spent both at the Challenge Center and in the greater community.

- Maintain a professional image and reflect a mature attitude within the agency. Adhere to Challenge Center’s Policies and Procedures. Use prudent judgment in seeking supervisor consultation. Adhere to assigned work allowing for flexibility to the needs of the Program. Use creativity in defining new and better ways of operating in conjunction with supervisor and other management staff. Be willing to accept new tasks with promptness and minimal supervision.
