Reports To: GIS Project Manager / Operations Manager
Supervises: No direct reports
Summary: Performs technical and analytical functions on AM/FM/GIS Projects. The GIS Analyst is responsible for assisting the GIS Project Manager in the overall delivery of GIS related projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for reading, interpreting, reviewing and generating pipeline alignment sheets which requires the ability to interpret and analyze aerial photography.
- Develop basic GIS-related files pertaining to pipeline facilities and develop basic special maps and keyboard data entry.

- Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience of a technical nature (e.g. cartography, surveying, engineering, forestry, geology, GIS, GPS, etc.) is required. Knowledge of quads, aerial photography, and maps. Knowledge of the pipeline industry is helpful.
- Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.*
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.*
- Computer Skills: Requires working knowledge of Windows/NT Operating systems as well as Microstation, Autocad, ARC/INFO, Intergraph, SQL, Excel, Access or comparable software packages.
