Gotham Companies is currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our client’s progressive Charter School System located in the vibrant city of New York, on a permanent position, year round. In this role, you will support and educate students with varying disabilities, ensuring their educational needs are met in a compassionate and inclusive manner. As a Special Education Teacher, you will collaborate with a team of skilled professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), modifying curriculum and instructional strategies as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and fosters their social and emotional development.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students and their families, providing regular updates on progress and actively seeking their input in the educational process.
- Identify areas of academic need and design appropriate teaching strategies to address individual student goals.
- Utilize a wide range of instructional methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the special education setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Complete required paperwork, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings and other team-based discussions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field - New Grads Welcome!
- Active teaching certification - Initial, Supplemental, or Professional - in Special Education from the state of New York. (REQUIRED)
- PETS clearance (REQUIRED)
- Proven experience working with students with special needs and implementing IEPs.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Pay: $64,300.00 - $83,000.00 per year
