The RN Coordinator Staff Development assesses, designs, develops, delivers and evaluates education and training initiatives for the organization. Provides a broad range of staff development and educational services for various levels within the organization.
Your Everyday
- Organizational Educational Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assesses education and information needs within assigned hospital departments and functions.
- Evaluates teaching strategies by maintaining and reporting the statistical data related to educational programs.
- Interacts with nursing leadership/educators to determine ongoing needs of nursing and clinical departments.
- Facilitates/coordinates developmental activities for follow-up plan for staff nurses to address needs identified by leadership related to skills and professional practice.
- Plans, implements and evaluates the orientation program for all employees:
- Designs, implements and evaluates effective instructional and informational interventions, making efficient use of all available resources.
- Collaborates with staff, managers, all departments in developing and implementing initiatives.
- Coordinates general nursing orientation for all nursing division employees and agency nurse.
- Provides feedback to nursing division employees, managers, educators and coaches.
- Provides developmental activities for inexperienced and experienced coaches to meet clinical department orientation needs.
- Coordinates the development, facilitation of in-service and continuing education programs for all staff:
- Coordinates life support training. Provides CPR/BLS classes. Coordinates the PALS/ACLS collaboration with the hospital including PALS registration.
- Plans, implements and evaluates continuing nursing education activities for LCMC. Coordinates product in-services for the staff.
- Develops, assigns and tracks completion of assignments and educational activities.
- Provides training for various hospital systems (time management, performance management system, etc.), provides technical support, troubleshooting and miscellaneous assistance.
- Serves as a resource/consultant regarding department-level and house-wide education issues:
- Serves as a consultant and resource for multiple initiatives and projects to internal LCMC customers, related to educational and non-educational issues.
- Coordinates unit-based skills validation with the patient care managers/educators.
- Provides assistance with competencies, orientation documentation, policy and procedures.
- Consults with patient education team/educators on resources for patient education. Obtains education materials from pharmaceutical and other supply representatives for use with patient/staff education.
- Serves as a coach to department-level educators, preceptors to develop skills relative to teaching and educational program development:
- Consults with managers, educators and coaches on use of the orientation/competency validation process.
- Provides `Just in Time' coach sessions as needed.
- Mentors coaches and clinical staff educators.
- Coordinates clinical rotations for academic training programs:
- Coordinates affiliations with schools of nursing and other healthcare programs.
- Works directly with the schools of nursing to make appropriate clinical assignments for nursing students.
- Maintains the schedule of school assignments.
- Collaborates with team-members on the coordination/facilitation of orientation for faculty and each clinical group (including verification of regulatory requirements).

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience Clinical nursing
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Instructor
- Registered Nursing License
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent presentation skills for teaching large and small groups. Adept in Adult Learning strategies.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Expertise in testing and measurement.
- Expertise in competency development.
- General Understanding of functionality of Learning Management Software.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission guidelines for hospitals, performance improvement and ability to function as core team member for house wide educational projects.
- Continuing Nursing education activities design, implementation and evaluation.
- Proficient in timekeeping, competency and job description software.
