The Manager Employee Experience (EX) Strategy invests in the future of Southwest’s People by creating meaningful experiences that connect our People to what's most important in their lives by developing strategies and implementing solutions that reduce Employee pain points and enhance interactions. This role is responsible for developing the strategy, leading governance of our Employee journey, measuring and identifying Employee pain points, and identifying solutions to deliver excellent results and keep Southwest Airlines the best place to work. The Manager EX Strategy is a strong leader and organized collaborator, who is ready to guide key initiatives across the Culture and Communications Department .

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
Lead the EX Strategy Team, responsible for designing and executing Southwest’s EX strategy, integrated into the Company’s business objectives. Drive the overall strategy for specific journey moments for the Company to achieve increased engagement and performance for key Company metrics; build awareness of the strategy, services, insights, and tools and integrate it into all relevant areas of the business
Oversee EX governance forums (including senior executives), which approve all EX artifacts (e.g., Employee journey map, personas, roadmaps) and green light all Companywide EX projects
Continually improve existing EX artifacts and tools and design new ones based on best practice research, innovation, and needs within the Company
Measure pain points along the Employee journey, conduct deep dive research to fully evaluate the root cause issues, identify potential solutions, and scope work that leads to new projects the EX Team undertakes. Lead the design and development of dashboards and scorecards to evaluate Employee journey moments
Design the strategy for large-scale, cross-functional Employee experience solutions, including digital Employee experience efforts in partnership with Technology
Drive alignment across varying levels of Leadership, serve as EX advisors to other projects and efforts across the Company, and drive adoption of EX services, insights, and tools available to the business
Use design-thinking methodology to capture Employee voice for identification of pain points and solution design
Work collaboratively with Leaders and Teams throughout the business to execute on the focus areas set forth by the EX governance Team and consult with Leaders on challenges within their scope that impact the EX

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, project management, change leadership, negotiation, and coordination/planning of people and resources
Advanced knowledge in leadership skills (including delegation and creating capacity for special projects) and effective developer of People
Knowledge and application of EX as a business differentiator and growth driver
Skilled in human-centered design and focus group design as well as their applications to EX
Skilled in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
Skilled in written and verbal communication, including storytelling; adapting style in presentations based on audience size and makeup; and gaining commitment to shared goals with peers, coworkers, and Employee representatives
Skilled in creative and complex problem solving through identification of root cause, formulation of options, risk evaluation, and consideration of all internal and external factors
Skilled in conceptual, analytical, and abstract thinking, as well as presenting complex relationships in an understandable way
Skilled in the application of design thinking principles and the ability to create models and define processes
Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, and leveraging it to tell a story and/or solve a problem Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Developing EX programs and capabilities with a strategic focus, or of a similar nature
Leveraging Design-Thinking Techniques
Employee Experience Design, Development, and Tools
Strategy development, project management of large, strategic initiatives, change leadership, and continuous improvement
Preferred: Proficient experience with Microsoft PowerPoint

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $118,600 - $131,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
