POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing daily Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations of the Accounting team and supporting ancillary Accounting and Finance functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Controllership Level Duties

Supervise the functions and staff of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
- Oversee property tax payment and tax protest process with county assessor

Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations

Review financial statements in preparation for monthly close meetings

Prepare and analyze financial statements for properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements

As a back up to Controller, coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

Coordinate with Controller and FP&A for annual budget process
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable

Review and approve invoices, initiate payments, and manage tenant billings in accordance with lease agreements

Monitor tenant accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue payments in coordination with Property Management policies

Responsible for posting and verifying information related to monthly mortgage payments, updating loan amortization schedules and escrow balances, posting journal entries and recording in checkbook
- Completes monthly recurring journal entries
- Calculates and records escrow interest and monthly accruals for insurance and taxes
- Assist AR Specialist with preparation of tenant statements for estimated Common Area Maintenance charges and Taxes
Treasury Services

Manage preparation of bimonthly cash report

Direct funding to accounts with a shortfalls and to appropriate accounts that maximize earnings credits

Manage opening and closures of accounts as necessary, managing KYC process, and communication with counterparts at banks

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience as Senior Accountant, Treasury Manager or Controller

Strong Accounting skills and attention to detail
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer-based accounting applications required
- Experience with Commercial Real Estate industry or Yardi ERP is a big plus
