Job Summary
The Business Development Manager will partner with multiple departments to drive measurable results that increase overall revenue. They will be versatile, strengthen client relationships, identify, and pursue new market opportunities and partnership potentials. It also involves professional and responsive commitment to clients while building positive internal and external relationships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop strategic plans to target new clients and potential business initiatives.
- Demonstrate ability to generate and maintain strong relationships at all levels with our clients including executives and key decision makers.
- Lead the efforts to expand market share within multiple markets for new and existing service offerings.
- Attend conference booths and other events to generate leads and support networking.
- Maintain CRM data and report to leadership on opportunities and strategies for market penetration and growth.
- Develop a budget and cash flow for business development, including overhead expenses as well as reporting metrics, KPIs and overall performance metrics.
- Oversee and implement the full sales cycle which involves market research, market analysis, presenting to various prospects, client acquisition and retention.
- Prepare a forecast of the pipeline of business opportunities on a regular basis.
- Attend management meetings and report any engagements/metrics.
- Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide observations/recommendations.
- Respond actively to inquiries and complaints.
- Undertake market research, develop, and maintain market intelligence on upcoming projects and prospects.
- Solicit and share feedback on results of proposals both successful and otherwise.
- Support development of proposals and responding to request for proposals.
- The role will require travel.
- Work with marketing to promote Viking services.
- Develop/improve social media engagement and presence
Experience & Education
- 10+ years’ experience in the energy industry
- 7+ years’ experience in business development
- Excellent CRM skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with clients and colleagues.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.
- An engineering degree is a plus
