Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain the ink room for safety and product safety requirements.
Understand which types of chemicals are permitted in the ink room and understand those chemicals' uses.
Understand cleaning requirements for the ink room, document completed cleaning activities, and maintain ink room cleanliness and organization.
Properly address chemical spills.
Operate, monitor, and maintain parts cleaner and periodically clean out waste and refill with clean solvent.
Monitor and control incoming ink and solvent waste brought by Press Operators and Assistants to ensure that ink, solvent, and trash are properly separated into different containers/buckets.
Monitor solvent drums and understand the importance of keeping these drums grounded at all times.
Manage rag disposal by ensuring rags are not soaked with ink or solvent before placing them in the Gaylord boxes properly lined twice with thick Poly film.
Properly label and paint waste drums with universal waste label (Paint and Paint Related Waste) for inks and dirty solvent labels (Excluded Solvent Contamination Wipes).
Properly seal waste drums, including ensuring drum ring is properly sealed on drum with nut/bolt, and palletize drums for hazardous waste shipment.
Understand the different types of 5-gallon ink kits and properly label, organize, and store them in inventory racks.
Load, operate, and monitor the distiller unit.
Load ink silos from ink totes and solvents from solvent tank using InkMaker system.
Operate, monitor, and maintain parts cleaner and periodically clean out waste and refill with clean solvent.
Properly clean press parts (e.g., ink sump and covers, pans, chambers) and store them on the clean parts shelf located on the production floor.
Process/dispose of ink and solvent waste after ensuring that waste drums are in good condition.
Effectively communicate/relay important information to the following shift during shift changes.
