Under general supervision, the Project Manager is responsible for fully professional architectural work of considerable difficulty. Manages multiple aspects of the design and construction process. Coordinates capital outlay and other facilities development projects to ensure compliance. Serves as liaison between the Board, campus representatives, architectural firms, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
Leads in reviewing projects for compliance
Reviews plans, specifications, requisitions, and other related project documents
Coordinates work of contract architects to ensure compliance
Assists in preparation of project budgets and related documents. Prepares designer agreements and approves designer's pay request.
Makes recommendations to campuses on problems concerning design, construction, and maintenance of facilities. Travels to campuses as necessary.
Observes projects under construction and reviews change orders as necessary.
Works with office software and updates the facilities project database.
Participates in review of facilities and physical facilities survey.
Participates in development and maintenance of standards, procedures and records
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proficient with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in educational, institutional, or commercial construction projects.
- Project management experience in the field of facilities design and/or construction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field and 10 years experience in educational, institutional, or commercial construction projects.
- Experience as a project manager for higher education facilities design and construction
- Current registration as an architect/engineer, or qualifying experience to obtain registration in Tennessee.
