Fisher Dynamics is currently looking for CNC Machinist on 2nd and 3rd Shift at our Sterling Heights, MI facility. The CNC Machinist will perform CNC Milling within the Fisher Dynamic’s Tool Room to support production/Die Repair/Maintenance activities.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Plans Machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock.
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry & trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets up mills by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices, tramming heads.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving and cutting, including detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver’s License, Hi-Lo License & Overhead Crane License
- 5+ years of experience or comparable education/certification program
- CNC Experience
- AutoCAD & MasterCam
- Strong mechanical ability and problem solving skills sufficient to perform fabrication and build activities
- Blue print reading
- Ability to calculate speeds and feeds and perform machine offsets
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 Standards
- Communication Skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and suppliers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of a manufacturing environment. Job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant, including second story areas. Must be able to identify colors for purposes of executing machine and equipment repairs. The ability to lift 40 pounds is required.
