Job Summary
Direct services work in ACE’s Early Learning Program assisting the Leadership Team in planning, organizing and supervising the operations of the diverse human services program as it relates to staff, children and families. The Coordinator provides support and technical assistance to specific regions and their direct service staff in the Health Services Content Area and related training Travel is required This is throughout Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna and Wayne Counties to perform essential job duties and to attend professional development opportunities, including out-of-town travel.
Required Education/Experience
Completion of the Certification Program as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance required.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Is aware of, understands, adheres to and is able to articulate:
- current community services resources relevant to service area
- Head Start Performance Standards; and
- other regulations/policies/procedures/administrative guidance for the provision of quality services
- Enters data relevant to position in an accurate and timely manner
- Provides support for direct service staff in the documentation and proper use of the child and family database (COPA) as it relates to service are.
- Encourages and supports school readiness, family engagement, and positive interventions and supports in all aspects of the program(s). Works interactively with program staff to develop and implement ongoing goals
- Mentors and supports direct service staff in meeting Content Area requirements.Works with parents and staff on an individual and group basis to address health care needs that arise.
- Instructs parents on proper medical techniques when caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
- Submits reports, correspondence, and related information to Service Area Managers
- Participates in management meetings and planning sessions
- Provides mandatory health services to Head Start/Early Head Start children and insures that every family has established a medical and dental home
- Maintains regular communication with community resources relevant to the Content Area, establishing working relationships that advocate for and support families and children in program
- Contributes health services information to the Community Assessment
- Works with the Health Services Manager to meet health program outcomes, including but not limited to logging accident reports and following through with required documentation
- Sends letters to parents requesting missing health requirement information, and documents efforts In COPA
- Sends releases to physicians, dentists, and specialists to obtain medical information
- Documents in-kind physicals and dentals
- Completes health area requirements for assigned children, ensuring that every child has completed a medical examination, dental evaluation, follow-up treatment (as indicated),and up-to-date immunizations
- Performs food monitoring as requested
- Checks first aid kits at the centers and keeps them fully stocked
- Keeps children safe by creating and maintaining a Culture of Safety that engages people in identifying safety concerns and working with others to improve strategies used in homes and in centers
- Respects and responds appropriately to the culture, language, values, and family structures of each family served
- Maintains strict confidentiality of the programs children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable law
- Functions as mandated reporter reporting any allegations of alleged child abuse/neglect to appropriate Child Welfare Agency
- Participates actively in opportunities for continuous professional development
- Performs related work as required
