We are currently looking for a motivated and committed team member to join our office located in Butler, PA as a Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant supports management in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the Company’s operations and any corresponding laws/regulations.
- Utilizes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to gather, analyze and prepare financial information to post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Perform general account analysis and reconciliation utilizing GAAP; including but not limited to bank statements, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, inventory, debt, accruals and intercompany transactions.
- Maintains fixed asset system and associated roll forwards and depreciation schedules; ensures proper recording of new purchases and disposals, including calculation of any gain or loss on disposition.
- Assists in month end, quarter end and year end closing processes; ensures transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures are followed.
- Assists with analyzing and documenting the results of profit and loss comparisons to summarize company’s results of operations as requested.
- Assists with preparation and documentation of annual budgets for each of the branches / departments as requested.
- Assist with answering accounting and financial questions from department managers by researching and interpreting data.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
- Utilize knowledge to assist with the development and monitoring of internal controls in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure sound business practices are being followed.
- Prepares and submits sales and use tax returns.
- Assist with recording and reconciliation of employee expense transactions in software system.
- Prepares and maintains the accounting (including transaction analysis, recording journal entries, preparation of monthly trial balances, etc.) for the real estate entities.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls and protects organizational value by keeping financial information confidential.
- Coordinate activities of other accountants that perform accounting and bookkeeping functions when requested.
- Adhere to compliance with / completion of departmental checklists to evidence completeness and timeliness of procedures performed.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining networks and participating in professional organizations.
- Teamwork and collaboration within departments and branches
- Overtime required, as necessary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance from an accredited four-year college or university required; four to six years related experience and/or training. On the job training and computer software training provided.
