ACCOUNTANT
Genie Electronics Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated, inquisitive financial guru to join our successful and growing team. While we are sadly saying good bye to our retiring Controller of 18 years, with some internal restructuring, we are excitedly looking for our “new” staff accountant, assistant controller, or financial talent who has the ability to complete the “normal” everyday financial tasks at hand, but embraces the desire to dig deeper into the details, analyze the data, and determine the “why” behind the numbers. That curiosity will help unearth trends, and assist in setting the course for several companies under our umbrella. If you enjoy financial reporting, have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and are capable of ensuring compliance with financial regulations, we’d like to meet with you.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ability to oversee and perform if necessary - in-house payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable
· Preparation of financial reports, taxes, month end close, cash flow, bank reconciliations, journal entries
· Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement, i.e. reducing costs and increase margins
· Cash flow management – constant monitoring of accounts receivable and accounts payable
· Maintain inventory and fixed assets
· Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks and reports, as well as compliance with accounting principles, standards and regulations
· Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
· Management of 401K program/accounts
· Lead the execution of annual audits and tax preparation
· Utilize accounting software (Sage) to manage financial data effectively
· Assistance with introduction and implementation of new inventory/ERP system at sister company
· Serve as back up to HR
· Involvement in commercial and health insurance programs
· Jumping into any area that requires assistance, whenever necessary - small company mindset
· Perform other duties as necessary or assigned
