SUMMARY The primary function of the Planner / Dispatcher is the responsibility for the operations component of planning TMW orders to dispatching Drivers. This will be accomplished by the Driver and Asset assignment process and will result in maximizing the Terminal’s revenue and minimizing empty miles for a defined region. The Planner / Dispatcher will identify opportunities to provide transportation solutions to address internal and external customer needs while consistently meeting or exceeding gross margin and service targets. The position requires professional communications, computer and presentation skills. Position represents the company in a positive image with employees, customers and the community always performing in a safe and ethical manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Execute the necessary plan to attain the regional planning margin targets and communicate service short falls to the Operations Manager on duty.
- Work toward the operations standards for cost control, quality, safety, and service accountability.
- Achieve the targets for Upper Level Management in order to make key network decisions (i.e. Deadhead, Detention, Repower, Service, Layover and Lane Balance).
- Work with the Operations Manager, Logistics Engineering, Fleet Managers and the Operations Coordinators to execute network optimization plans to eliminate long-term and short-term imbalances and ensure customer service commitments are met.
- Maintain a thorough understand of the trailer and tractor inventory (in motion and spotted) in their region.
- Demonstrate an expert knowledge of the processes and procedures required to execute their assigned tasks for their role in their area in an efficient manner. Maintain adept knowledge of the trucking industry, DOT, C-TPAT regulations for Driver/non-driver policies and procedures.
- Meet or exceed all Gross Margin Targets on a per region basis. Ability to analyze and evaluate financial and operational information to identify issues and barriers for corrective action, through utilization of.
- Make analytical decisions about key network factors such as Deadhead, Repower, Service, Layover, Detention, and Market Balance. Planner must be capable of:
- Coordinate with Operations Manager, Fleet Managers, and Operations Coordinators to ensure Margin targets, asset utilization, and customer service commitments are met.
- Work with the Operations Manger & Fleet Managers to execute network optimization plans to eliminate long term and short term imbalances.
- Understand all Company Margin Targets, while being able to refine and implement actions plans to meet those targets.Position Requirements:
Qualified candidates will have an Associates or a Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred and/or a minimum of five years in a dispatch or load planning position.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
