Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The Wound Care Nurse will be responsible for providing specialized care to patients with wounds, injuries, or post-operative incisions. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal wound healing and patient well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' wounds, including measurements and documentation.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care treatment plans based on best practices and patient needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of wound healing, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families on proper wound care techniques and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Perform wound dressings, debridement, and other specialized wound care procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records related to wound assessments and treatments.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment for wound care procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Certification in Wound Care Nursing (WOCN) highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wound care management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of clinic operations, medication administration, and medical-surgical practices.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, specimen collection processing, and medical records management.
- Familiarity with trauma medicine, dementia care, and workers' compensation law is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move patients when necessary.
- Proficient in performing physical tasks such as dressing changes and wound assessments.
Mental Requirements:
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess complex wound conditions effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
