Salt Steakhouse is seeking an experienced Expeditor to provide critical support for the restaurant, ensuring quality control and proper presentation of food in a timely manner.
Our Expeditor will act as a liaison between the Front of House, the Back of House, and Sushi Chefs to provide guests with efficient and thoughtfully timed service. Candidates must have a critical eye for detail and a strong sense of pride in their work as the guest experience is directly related to the success of the expeditor to cultivate the ideal culinary experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Comply with Crew and Department of Health established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques and safety protocols
- Comply with Crew safety plan and standards as set forth in training materials
- Ensure that all kitchen and oyster orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner, according to menu and customer specifications, consistently following protocol for ticket handling and communication
- Finalize the presentation of each plate and test food temperatures as per Crew training
- Keep work area neat and clean at all times to ensure DOH standards are met
- Liaise between Front of House and Back of House team members
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of every item on the menu and answer guest questions with clarity and confidence, providing recommendations upon request
- Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy
- Set up and breakdown station to specification; perform cleaning tasks at the conclusion of each service and prepare for the following service
- Work in collaboration with staff to ensure food and beverage is received by guests in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Expeditor in a high volume restaurant
- Ability to perform essential job functions when working in a high business volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods of time as required to perform essential job functions
- Able to lift 15+ lbs.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Spanish knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Kosher standards
