GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing (DON) assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the clinic. They are responsible for managing the clinical team and allocating department resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure the highest level of patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.

Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss staff statuses, census changes, personnel or patient issues.

Demonstrates knowledge of and application of key quality indicators, and proactively monitors and implements systems to achieve and/or surpass company thresholds.

Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of clinical services and to resolve identified problems.

Manages the daily clinical operations of the practice while maintaining a professional workplace.

Ensures that the physicians and staff are complying with healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards.

Supervises the selection and ordering of medical or office supplies and other clinical purchases.

Performs other position related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

RN license and certification required by state.

BLS certification required. ACLS preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required, Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 3 years in nursing administration or a comparable management position.
-
2 years of professional nursing experience, preferably in a urology practice setting.
