Purpose of this position is to support individuals who are currently incarcerated to help them build employment and life skills, help them transition home and obtain employment and address any barriers that they may face.
You will be required to travel to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Jail (MCSO), Perryville Prison, and Lewis Prison. On some occasions you may have to go to Yuma and Tucson Prison as needed for training or to fill in for co-workers.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct informational sessions about the program to interested inmates.
- Enroll the individuals who want to participate into the program by completing all enrollment paperwork and conducting one-on-one interviews.
- Co-facilitate the Father Matters Job & Training Program a 8- week or a 12-week series that meets once a week per unit for up to 2 hours.
- Conduct pre-release completion paperwork and get things ready for the person to transfer to post-release services.
- Help identify resources as needed based on the transitional plan created with participant.
- Data enter client information into our database.
- Work with the participant and the post-release case managers to help the participant find employment, education and/or resources.
- Track successful and unsuccessful completions.
- Attend staff meetings and on-going trainings.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and car insurance.
- No sex offenses, child / adult abuse, or neglect convictions.
- Have a GED, High School Diploma or College degree.
- Must have experience with working with justice involved individuals, case management, facilitator, mentor, peer support or a BHT.
- Will accept individuals with a felony conviction, but you have had to been out of incarceration and off probation or parole for at least three years.
- Have experience using computers, sending emails, conducting and participating in virtual meetings, can write up a document, can do case notes and can effectively communicate.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. Due to having to go inside the prisons or jail the shift may include afternoon hours between (3pm to 7pm) or on Saturday mornings. Rate of pay is $18.00 per hour. Mileage reimbursement is provided at $.65 per mile. No medical benefits are provided, but we offer a small stipend of 25% of your salary per paycheck that can be used for medical, childcare, etc.
