This position is primarily responsible for preparing journal entries, conducting monthly balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with the annual audit, and other financial duties that facilitate day-to-day business operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the compilation of monthly financial statements by preparing journal entries and multiple general ledger accounts reconciliations.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.

Assist with analysis of financial variances and discrepancies within financial statements.

Aid in the annual audit activities including providing auditors with the information requested for audit and corporate tax returns.

Provide assistance in the preparation of corporate tax returns for the society.

Track and release temporary restricted funds.

Collaborate with the Awards & Diversity department to ensure awards are paid timely and accurately.

Collaborate with the Meetings department to reconcile corporate support and exhibits quarterly.

Provide support with the reconciliations for international small meetings.

Provide accounting support for on-site registration at ASH Annual Meeting if needed.

Serve as the Backup to the other Senior Accountants.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and all levels of internal and external stakeholders; ability to drive for results using tact and diplomacy.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Familiarity in Sales Force (Financial Force) preferred.

Experience with Personify, and Trintech preferred.

Proficiency in standard business application (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced work environment and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

ASH has a hybrid work environment, with core in-office days for all ASH staff on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and telework on Mondays and Fridays for eligible positions. The Society’s headquarters is in Washington, DC, and is within walking distance of several Metro stations on the Blue/Orange/Silver and Red lines.
