The Position
This position reports directly to the Plant Engineer. The right person will have experience with any of the following: physical building structure, scales, mixers, production conveyor belts, pallet jacks, pneumatics, industrial washing equipment, ovens, coolers, freezers, depositors, packaging, and metal detection. He/she needs to be able to work on basic car repairs, which includes: changing brakes, oil changes, and diagnosing basic mechanical motor issues. To be considered for this position one must have:
- Three-to-five years of training in any one of the following maintenance-related disciplines: mechanical, electrical, or pneumatics, etc.
- Three-to-five years of mechanics’ experience in a manufacturing facility or in auto repair.
- Working knowledge of mechanical repair and general maintenance.
- Previous experience with maintaining and ensuring the reliability of machinery and systems required for production by inspecting and testing machinery; completing preventive maintenance, i.e., lubrication, bearing replacement, inspections, and replacing filters, etc.
- Knowledge of tools (including power tools) to execute job requirements.
- Ability to accurately record and document all completed maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Experience assisting in maintaining the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
- Familiarity with or a willingness to become familiar with any applicable OSHA regulations (e.g. hazard communication, and lockout/tagout, etc.) and apply this knowledge to daily duties.
- Analytical penchant and mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills with equipment.
- Knowledge of common fabrication methodology.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical circuits.
- Excellent upper and lower body strength.
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
- Willingness and ability to work independently.
- Availability for flexibility of scheduling with reasonable notice.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in described skills during a hands-on interview.
