COMPANY PROFILE
Barvin is a privately held commercial real estate investment and development firm located in Houston, Texas, owned by Houston-based entrepreneur Eric Barvin. Our commercial real estate platform serves as asset manager of a portfolio of multi-family properties totaling over 4,500 units in Texas and Georgia. Barvin also has a property management and construction management division, and in 2019, it began ground-up development.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to raise capital for our property management company. This role will involve sourcing, structuring, and managing debt and equity financing to support the company's growth and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate finance, strong relationships with investors and financial institutions, and a proven track record of successful capital raising.

EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES
Capital Raising
- Significant/majority of time to be spent equity fundraising
- Develop and implement capital-raising strategies to secure funding for real estate acquisitions, developments, and operations.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential investors, including institutional investors, private equity firms, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Prepare and present investment proposals, financial models, and marketing materials to potential investors.
Debt and Equity Financing
- Negotiate and structure debt and equity financing agreements, including term sheets, loan agreements, and partnership agreements.
- Manage relationships with lenders, equity partners, and financial institutions to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct detailed financial analyses, including cash flow projections, return on investment (ROI) calculations, and sensitivity analyses.
- Prepare regular reports on capital raising activities, financial performance, and market trends for senior management and stakeholders.
Strategic Planning
- Work closely with the CIO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies and capital plans.
- Assess market conditions and trends to identify new opportunities for financing and investment.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with capital raising and investment activities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in real estate finance, capital markets, investment banking, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully raising capital and structuring complex financing deals.
- A strong network of contacts within the real estate investment and financial communities.
- Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of real estate markets, financing structures, and investment strategies.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Requires 25% travel to different markets.
