Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Position Overview: Women's Refugee Care is seeking a passionate Volunteer Coordinator to support our mission of empowering refugee women and their families in Rhode Island. The Volunteer Coordinator will play a key role in recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to ensure effective program delivery and community engagement. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact by mobilizing volunteers to support our diverse range of programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Recruitment: Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds and communities. Collaborate with outreach efforts to attract volunteers who are passionate about supporting refugees.
- Training and Orientation: Conduct comprehensive orientation and training sessions for volunteers to familiarize them with Women's Refugee Care's mission, programs, and policies. Provide ongoing support and resources to volunteers throughout their engagement.
- Placement and Coordination: Match volunteers' skills, interests, and availability with appropriate roles within the organization. Coordinate volunteer schedules and activities to ensure coverage and effectiveness in program delivery.
- Supervision and Support: Provide supervision, guidance, and feedback to volunteers to enhance their experience and performance. Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment that values diversity and respects cultural sensitivity.
- Recognition and Appreciation: Develop and implement recognition strategies to acknowledge and appreciate volunteers' contributions. Organize events and initiatives to celebrate volunteer achievements and milestones.
- Collaboration: Work closely with program managers and staff to assess volunteer needs and integrate volunteers into program activities effectively. Build strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders to expand volunteer opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in nonprofit management, social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in volunteer coordination, recruitment, or management within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with diverse groups of volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage volunteer schedules, activities, and records effectively.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with cultural sensitivity and empathy toward refugee populations.
- Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
