About our Company
The Hudson Valley Seed Company provides gardeners and farmers with a robust catalog of over 400 varieties of open-pollinated seeds, along with tubers, bulbs, tools, supplies, and art work. Because we offer unique varieties that we cannot source from suppliers, we produce many of these seeds in our own certified organic fields in the Hudson Valley of New York State. We celebrate the uniqueness of the varieties in our catalog by commissioning artwork for each of our Art Packs—one-of-a-kind folding seed packets, each designed by a different artist and telling the unique story of that seed.

About the Position
We are currently seeking a full-time Retail Operations Associate to join our team. We're looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented, independent person who enjoys interacting with customers in the retail shop and gardens, merchandising, generating reports and managing and hosting events.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Merchandising an ever changing assortment of items in our retail store.
- Maintaining and supporting our events and workshop calendar.
- Assisting customers in our retail store and gardens.
- Providing a welcoming space for plant and art lovers.
- Generating weekly and monthly sales reports and assisting in analyzing sales trends.
- Preparing and executing inventory transfers.
- Assisting with the coordination of seasonal item pickups such as our annual seedling sale.
- Providing top-notch customer service, mostly in-person, but occasionally by phone or by email, to retail customers.
- Being excited to learn about our extensive catalog of garden seeds and art products.
- Helping on an as-needed basis with other aspects of the business, including order fulfillment, customer service emails, data entry, etc.
Our ideal candidate for this position has the following qualifications:
- At least 1-2 years experience in a sales or customer service position.
- At least 1-2 years of gardening experience at home or in a paid position.
- Comfort and ease with customer communication.
- A detail-oriented mindset.
- The ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with the rest of our small team.
- The ability to juggle multiple tasks independently without getting frazzled.
- Reliable transportation to and from our rural location in Accord, NY (30 minutes from Kingston or New Paltz, 15 minutes from Ellenville).
- Must be able to work weekends.
