Job Overview
We are inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA) in a biomedical laboratory in the Department of Oncology, Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. The Person assuming the role will have the opportunity to contribute to exciting research on gene regulation and RNA Biology in cancer, emphasizing computational and molecular biology. In addition to the lab management task, the RA will participate in active research projects culminating in publications.
Primary duties include:
· Maintain an accurate inventory of reagents and chemicals.
· Perform the duties of a lab safety officer. Ensure that the lab activities comply with safety protocols and EHS safety guidelines.
· Active maintenance and organization of the lab Google Cloud server.
. Mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA preparation, transfection, microscopy, sequencing library preparation.
· NGS data analysis generated from various assays, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and CRISPR-screen.
· Lead independent research projects and publish results.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s training in Biology, Chemistry, or computational biology.
· Proficiency in R and Python. Experience in developing informatics pipelines and analyzing genomics data sets.
· Previous experience in molecular and cellular biology research will be advantageous.
