Job Responsibilities:
As a Direct Support Professional, your role is to provide education, guidance, and unwavering support to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to achieve personal growth and become integral members of their communities. Your key responsibilities include:
Fostering Social Connections: Assist individuals in forming meaningful connections and friendships, fostering a sense of belonging and social inclusion.
Employment Support: Support individuals in their quest for employment opportunities, offering ongoing guidance to help them secure and maintain meaningful work.
Empower Personal Choices: Encourage and guide individuals to make informed decisions, respecting their autonomy and preferences.
Skill Development: Facilitate the acquisition of essential life skills, enabling individuals to lead independent lives.
Goal Achievement: Collaborate closely with individuals to define and attain their personal goals, providing unwavering support on their journey to success.
Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications following schedules and accurately document any changes or reactions.
Everyday Living: Monitor and report any changes in individuals' condition or behavior. Provide emotional support and companionship, assist with transportation needs, and ensure a clean and safe environment for individuals.
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Valid Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license with daily access to a privately maintained and insured vehicle.
- Age Requirement: You should be at least 18 years of age.
- Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills are necessary, including the ability to use internal software programs.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication, both written and verbal, is essential for this position.
- Pre-Employment Process: Successful completion of the pre-employment process, which includes a motor vehicle record check and State criminal background or FBI background checks.
- Educational Qualification: While not mandatory, a high school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
- Pre-Employment Examination: Candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis test.
