Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Manager (PM) will develop systems to effectively manage projects, records, and programs across multiple stakeholders. The Program Manager will oversee multiple facets of daily operations across the portfolio, working to achieve the result that All Rural Students Succeed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Continually demonstrate a working knowledge of grant goals and objectives
- Develop status reports, prepare professional presentations for multiple stakeholders
- Oversee and administer all facets of the day-to-day operations across the portfolio
- Manage the provision of technical guidance, consultation, and related support to internal and external stakeholders
- Provide day-to-day problem solving as necessary on day-to-day program-related needs and issues
- Conduct routine trainings for partners and staff regarding program specific initiatives, policies, and procedures
- Develop and manage program wide convenings
- Perform regular reviews of required documentation to ensure compliance Partners for Rural Impact and Federal grant policies and procedures paying particular attention to risk management
- Monitor standard operating procedures and ensure alignment for program wide documents
- Manage travel arrangements for 40+ team members
Position Location & Schedule
The position will be considered for remote work with local, state, and sometimes national travel required.
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- 5 years' experience working within federal grant compliance or grant management
- Experienced in personnel, program, and fiscal management
- Experienced in working within or supporting rural schools
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and legislative processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background check
Physical requirements:
- Ability to work in a high-energy office
- Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software programs
- Ability to operate motor vehicle
- Ability to travel independently by car and plane both locally and nationally
Environmental conditions:
- Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Periodic travel to meetings and events
