Applied Ecology LLC is hiring for the position of Restoration Technician (Crew Member)
Full time - 40hrs (4X10hrs); (winter hours: 36hrs, 4x9hrs)
Applied Ecology is focused on ecology restoration and vegetation management in the greater Seattle area. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic, to join our team.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for working outdoors and a commitment to delivering top-notch restoration services to our customers. As a Crew Member, you'll play a vital role in our daily operations, working collaboratively with your team to ensure the successful completion of various projects across different locations and project types.
Your responsibilities will include actively participating in day-to-day operations, contributing your skills and dedication to the success of our local team in The Puget Sound region. Additionally, there may be opportunities for you to travel to projects east of the cascades and out to the Olympic Peninsula, especially during warmer/busier months when demand increases and new projects emerge.

Responsibilities:
- Working alone or in teams to control invasive species/noxious weeds region wide.
- Working at times in very difficult terrain and inclement weather, performing strenuous labor for the entire work day.
- Operation and field maintenance of hand tools and power tools.
- Use of herbicide application with various forms of equipment, including backpack sprayers. • Installing native plants
- Communication with Crew Lead and Project Manager for efficient execution of scope.
- Clear reporting of progress to supervisors and other team members.
- Informed decision making with regards to technique and scope execution.
- Ability to get yourself to various jobsite locations in the greater Seattle area, within a 30-45 min drive.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for restoration work in demanding environments
- A minimum of 1 years experience in ecological restoration fieldwork or equivalent educational experience
- PNW native and invasive plant identification skills and understanding of individual species attributes and habitat preferences or ability to learn very quickly.
- Washington State Driver License and clean driving record.
- Ability to interpret complex directions and apply them to multiple tasks on multiple sites.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. 1/2 mile over extremely rough terrain in all weather conditions.
- Must possess the ability to locate one’s self, property boundaries and landmarks using online and/or paper maps.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication style
Preferred skills:
- Working knowledge of Northwest ecology and habitat forming processes
- Ability to drive truck and trailer
- WSDA Herbicide Operators License
