EARLY LEARNING TEACHER
JOB OVERVIEW
At Nonnie’s Village, our mission is to provide quality, inclusive preschool and childcare to children in the community ages 0-5 ( infant/toddler/preschool) We are looking for dedicated, experienced rtfgteacher experienced in early learning that are dedicated to our mission and to children that may struggle to meet standard developmental goals. This position holds multiple responsibilities and has the potential to grow and change for those with a great work ethic. We have openings in our infant/toddler program a well as our preschool as we are growing. Our teachers are the most hands-on with our children and families, so a background in teaching at-risk children, SPED, ASD, and ACE are a must. This position requires patience, flexibility and excellent classroom management skills.
Responsibilities for teachers
- Work with your Director to develop and support the curriculum that is appropriate for the children in your class. (Creative Curriculum, Second Steps)
- Engage children in a variety of materials and activities to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Attend children's basic needs by assisting them with feeding, dressing them, and toileting.
- Must have a strong work ethic. Frequent call outs , drama in the workplace and crating a toxic work environment will not be tolerated.
- Plan activities so that all children receive one-to-one time.
- Delegate and coach assistants to take on more responsibility and more hands-on with the children.
- Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
- Help children to follow guidelines, rules and boundaries and encourage social skill building.
- Assist with activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and rest periods.
- Accompany children for large motor play (indoor or outdoor) and promote the safety of the children and staff.
- Interact with parents and be able to answer questions appropriately or direct them to the Director.
- Be responsible for assessments and evaluations using ASQ/ASQ-SE.
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students and maintain an inclusive and safe environment at all times.
- Help with cleaning classrooms, eating areas and center as needed.
- Encourage proper eating habits and personal hygiene to include good handwashing and dental care daily.
- Assist with meal set-up and clean-up and promote good table manners.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with administration frequently.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, to include mixing of classes for certain activities.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS.
- at least 18 years old
- Must have at least 5 year teaching (babysitting and nanny experience not relevant)
- Experience with children that have different abilities is a must.
- Must be at least a step 5 in ORO and working on your next step
- Must pass OCC approved health and safety training
- Must have valid CPR card that includes first aide to children within 90 days of hire
- Must have Food Handler’s Card
- Must be part of the Central Background Registry BEFORE job can be offered officially. Candidate may not start training or be paid until proof of background check is verified.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as our center grows, and hours expand to
- evening and weekends.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Experience:
- Early Education: 1 year (Required)
- children with high needs: 1 year (Preferred)
- childcare setting (not babysitting): 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Criminal Background Registry Number in Oregon (Required)
