The Regulatory Compliance Specialist assures, together with relevant functions, early and effective regulatory compliance assessments for new and existing ingredients and formulations leading to compliance by design of ingredients, labels, and communications.
This role is a cross-functional position that regularly communicates to provide guidance to Sales, Product Development, Supply Chain, Technical Services and the Operations department. This includes being the champion of our number one priority of 123SQP (Safety; Quality; Productivity). This role focuses on the Company’s current regulatory and safety needs and strategically plans for its future needs.
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist supports the development and implementation of compliance programs, policies, reporting and practices for the organization. This role monitors activities impacted by regulatory requirements related to the organization’s governance. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist serves as the primary interface between the Company and regulatory authorities such as EPA, DTSC, CUPA, AQMD, County Sanitation, Local Fire Department, Stormwater, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, Homeland Security, Department of Justice, DOT, CHP, REACH, TSCA, CARB.

- Regulatory inspections and findings/corrective actions
- SDS authoring, Formulation assessment and Label Review
- Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Authors SDS
- Product Compliance, Reporting to Regulatory
- Responsible for Compliance including Practices, Licensing, Reporting, Audits, Inspections for the following Regulatory Agencies: FDA, EPA, 21CFR210 and 21CFR211, OSHA, DOT, AQMD, REACH, EPA, TSCA, CARB, EPA, DTSC, CUPA, AQMD, TRI, County Sanitation, Local Fire Department, Stormwater, CHP
- Tours the Facility Taking Corrective and Preventive Actions as Needed
- Verification of compliance to regulatory standards for all products, including supplied products
- Manages Outsourced Testing and Inspections for regulatory compliance
- Verification of compliance to regional regulatory standards for new/existing materials, labels, packaging requirements
- Liaison with formulations review and approval with regulations for FDA, EPA etc
- Supporting by providing basic regulatory compliance guidance related to product labeling and safety data sheets
- Authoring, revisions, guidance on product formulations and safety data sheets for company products
- Assist with training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements
- Ensures all active ingredients are reported, procured, stored and handled in compliance
- Label Review for regulated products
- Chemical Formula Assessment for manufactured products and supplied products as per regulatory requirement
- Maintains, prepares, and ensure compliance for SDS and related DOT regulatory documentation
- Ensures Facility Complies and Submits Required Reports including SARA 313, Risk Management
- Plan (RMP) Amongst Others
- Maintains Employee-Accessible Database of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on Products and Inventoried Raw Materials
- Ensures Company Policies and Practices of Occupational Hazard Prevention Programs such as LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, etc. are Present, Controlled, and Compliant
- Conducts OSHA-Required, Related Periodic Training and Emergency Drills
- Conducts Weekly Operations Department 15-minute Standup Safety Awareness Reminders
