Falmouth Middle School is seeking a Library Assistant (Ed Tech III). The Falmouth Middle School Library serves approximately 450 students in grades 6, 7, and 8 and is the technology center for the school. The library assistant will supervise students and oversee the library while the school librarian/tech integrator is teaching library classes and providing tech integration support in classrooms. Ideal candidates should have experience working with middle school students, an interest in middle grade & young adult literature, experience using technology, and the willingness to learn the online library system.
Candidates should be organized, flexible, take direction, and have a sense of humor and a positive attitude. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists students and staff with locating books and resources in the library Uses the library circulation system to check out materials to students and staff Checks in and shelves library books and materialSupervises students working in the library during school hoursHelps staff and students with the library copier and printer needsAssists with creating book displays and supports school-wide reading initiatives Assists with processing new books and conducting library inventoryCreates help tickets for students and staff who need tech support The ideal candidate will: Enjoy working with adolescents and have an understanding of their unique developmental needs Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and co-workersBe creative, organized, flexible, communicate effectively, and take initiativeMaintain an equity lens and a growth mindset Hours: 35 hours per week (7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Mon-Fri during the school year) Qualifications / Certifications / Experience / Degree requirement: Education Technician III Certification and CHRC authorization through State of Maine Department of Education Approved background check (run by the district)Experience working with middle school-aged students preferredPay commensurate with education and experience.
