Pitts & Spitts is a growing manufacturer of high quality smokers and grills.
We are currently looking to add a General Fabrication Shop Hand to our team.
In this role you will be a member of the fabrication team and focus on multiple projects from multiple customers. You will be involved in sawing structural steel into parts to be used in the assembly and construction of our products. You will also be involved in the crating, packaging, and shipping of finished products. Experience with bandsaws, power tools, and driving a forklift a plus.
This position requires an energetic and detail-focused individual that wants to be a part of a growing team and company. This individual should be able to multitask at a moments notice and be able to handle constant changing situations. The ideal candidate will have a background in metal fabrication or woodworking and have the drive and organization to be part of a dedicated team of metal fabricators. This position will require daily interaction with the production manager and leadership team to guarantee the scope of work for each project is kept on track and quality standards are met.
Job Function: Operate band saw and chop saw. Assist in and lead cutting and assembly of crates and final packaging of all products. Foster a safe, clean, and organized facility with the goal of shipping orders in a timely manner. Ongoing quality assurance is also paramount.
Essential Duties:
- Operate and program robotic welding cell
- Learn and perform laser welding
- Operate band saw, chop saws, shears, and other fabrication equipment
- Cut structural steel pieces to ensure welders have pieces needed to keep workflow moving
- Cut and assemble crates for grills
- Package grills in boxes for shipping to customers
- Test products before shipping
- Know and Enforce safety Rules and Requirements
- Typical day would be: coordinate with Production Manager on needs and priority
Education, Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 year experience in metal fabrication -- both carbon and stainless steels
- HANDS-ON experience in the cutting and handling of structural steel and wood
- Must be organized, confident, even-tempered, and able to convey ideas effectively
- Maintain expected performance standards for daily shop production and share responsibility for the testing and quality assurance process of each product before it ships to a customer
- Ability to read tape measure
- Be able to pass a drug test and background check
- English and Spanish speaking is a plus

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
