Provides basic assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) to residents within the scope of Assisted Living regulations and responsibilities and performs assist procedures within the description of responsibilities and under the direction of the Wellness Director. The daily regimen is intimately involved with the daily life of Assisted Living residents and includes involvement in daily living activities that include but are not limited to personal grooming, escorts, meal service, activity planning and execution and housekeeping services.
Medication Aide Responsibilities include:
- To assist residents with dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and grooming. To help make beds and empty trash.
- To monitor and assist with medication provision following standards established facility policies and procedures. To properly
document medication provision, services delivered and, if appropriate, resident condition.
- To follow instructions given by supervisor and communication with supervisor on resident health questions/concerns as
necessary.
- To escort residents to various parts of the building as needed. To assist with resident activities as instructed.
- To assist with meal service, i.e., serving residents, cleaning tables, etc.
- To follow instructions given by supervisor and communication with supervisor on resident health questions/concerns as
necessary. To treat residents with dignity and respect at all times. To perform other duties as assigned by medication aide
supervisors.
- To maintain a safe, clean environment within the assigned duty areas. To respond to resident call light signals promptly. To
be tactful and courteous when dealing with residents, families, visitors, and staff.n
Education and Experience:
High school graduate or GED preferred.
State certification/registration or graduation if from a state approved caregiving training program required.
Preferred knowledge and experience in caregiving or nursing
CPR certified and/or first aid certified depending on state requirements
Skill/ knowledge requirements:
Good physical and mental health.
Basic reading and writing skills and ability to speak English.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods.
Ability to push and pull objects and carry up to 20 pounds, unassisted on a: frequent basis
(Occasionally up to 50 pounds, unassisted). Full use of hands, arms, and legs (i.e. washing, feeding, and dressing
residents, writing notations etc.).
