Job Title: Program Counselor/Driver (2 yrs. Residential experience required)

Department: Transitional Housing Facility
Reports To: Shift Supervisor/Facility Manager
Summary: The Program Counselor is responsible for the care and custody of all Probation clients in the program and is responsible for all supervision function within the facility in accordance with the Program’s guidelines. The Program Counselor is responsible for on-going support, follow-up, and strict supervision according to program procedure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Program Counselor include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Providing for the safety and security of all Probation clients
- Coordinating transportation of Probation clients
- Supervising the recreational and community service activities
- Searching residents and visitors as specified by Policy and Procedure
- Implementing the behavior management system
- Keeping the Shift Supervisor informed of progress and all developments
- Collaborating with team members to ensure that Probation client's goals are met
- Maintaining Probation client's records according to program procedure and completing all required paperwork in a timely manner
- Having an understanding of each position’s responsibilities
- Establishing appropriate boundaries with Probation clients and others
- All other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor

Education and Experience for the Program Counselor:
- High school diploma or equivalency. Two years of experience in human services, correctional supervision, or related field preferred.
Language Skills for the Program Counselor:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence with accuracy.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions and judgment calls
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred

- Must have driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier and have reliable transportation'
