JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Host Person is responsible for engaging, greeting, and seating guests, in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. The ideal candidate will be able to seat guests and manage the flow of reservations to maximize the guest experience. They will also be responsible for answering the phone and taking, tracking, and organizing reservations, to-go orders, and special requests . Receive a cash bank from the cashier for every shift and assist guests with any menu related questions they may have.

- Most importantly, the Server is responsible for curating the whole Balla experience for the guest.
- Knows and executes the service guidelines outlined in this manual with extreme attention to detail.
- Promotes the company’s high level of service standards by exhibiting friendliness and a hospitable attitude. Displays full knowledge of the restaurant, McClain Camarota Hospitality Group and its history, and current/upcoming/past menus.
- Possesses knowledge of menu items, ingredients (history and other culinary uses), garnishes, cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and textures. Capable of professionally and artfully explaining this information in full detail to guests.
- Describes menu items and wines as requested. This includes understanding the menu thoroughly and being able to describe the chef’s style of cooking in general, as well being able to make interesting and appropriate beverage suggestions to compliment the dishes chosen.
- Knows and executes the service guidelines outlined in this manual with extreme attention to detail.
- Greets guests promptly as they enter the restaurant, making a positive first impression. Greets guests warmly and sincerely with an honest smile, making eye contact. Always uses positive body language, and speaks in full sentences, avoiding slang.
- Uses the guest’s preferred name at least twice throughout interaction. Knows and acknowledges all VIPs by name and checks in with management immediately upon their arrival.
- Anticipates guests’ needs. Remember, we always “find the yes” when a guest asks a question.
- Ensures their station is properly set, including the side station, to house specifications.
- Ensures all side-work is completed thoroughly, expertly, and on time.
- Communicates all table needs to the appropriate teammate.
- Maintains a clean restaurant and ensures health code compliance.
- Monitors ticket times for food and beverage and informs management if there is a delay.
- Ensures and promotes alcohol safety by following legal guidelines for customers consuming alcoholic beverages.
- Informs management immediately of any problems or guest complaints.
- Reviews the menu for changes, specials, 86’d items, etc. Managers will update the computer as items are 86’d.
- Opens wine when necessary.
- Takes the first drink order, including water. Always offer bottled water as an option.
- Properly and accurately take orders and enters them into the POS system.
- Be able to perform all tableside “moves.”
- Mark the table with the proper mise en place for each course.
- Set the pace and direct the flow of service. This requires a special sensitivity, not only to the guest’s timing needs, but also to the kitchen’s timing.
- Ensure that orders from different tables are taken in a staggered manner and each entered into the computer immediately. Does not put multiple orders in the computer at the same time.
- Handles all payment methods according to compliance standards.
- Ensures that all closing side-work is thoroughly completed.
- A Server may be required to handle shared cash gratuities.
- Performs side work and other duties requested by management.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Ability to obtain a valid Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card and Nevada Alcohol Awareness Card
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Knowledge of Open Table and Seven Rooms Reservation System
- General computer knowledge
- Dedicated and willing to go above and beyond
- Must have an exceptional, positive personality and hospitality driven attitude
- Exceptional communication skills and articulation
- Must be able to multitask and take initiative in a VIP driven and guest service focused environment
- Must exhibit a focused attention to detail, while working in a high-pressure environment
- Able to write and speak in a confident manner
- Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift
- Must be able to control a multi-line phone
- Previous cash handling experience
