Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Wound Care Nurse to join our team of podiatry professionals. As part of our team, you assess wounds incurred through accidents, diabetic healthcare issues, and surgical procedures to determine both immediate treatment needs and long-term treatment plans. You coordinate with supervising physicians regarding case management and liaise between families and health care administrators. Before the patient is discharged, you educate patients and families on care practices and methods to promote wellness and healing. You must be a licensed registered nurse (RN) to be considered for this position.
Fun Facts: We are a growing clinic with our newest building opening in August 2023. You will have a paid trip to Texas to gain a Wound Care Nurse Certifiaction at the Advanced Health Institute, where you learn to perform debridement of a wound. Full healthcare insurance coverage paid. You will have a rotating half day off during the week that rotates with all nurses on a Monday, Thursday or Friday. Build relationship with the drug reps that provide lunch on a daily/weekly basis. And, the reward you get to see when your patient finally heels up from a wound and you were a part of saving their limb.
Clinical Duties
- Cleansing, debridement and irrigation of wounds using appropriate aseptic or sterile techniques
- Recording patients' vital signs, documenting physicians' notes and changes in medical conditions
- Drawing blood and lipid samples and submitting for laboratory analysis
- Taking tissue and fluid samples and submitting for laboratory analysis
- Application of skin grafts to patients on a weekly, bi-weekly basis for proper wound healing
- Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms and deviations in wounds for physicians' review during clinical exams
- Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits
Administrative Duties
- Managing office telephone systems, including answering calls and returning messages
- Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments
- Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and health insurance information
- Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintaining patient files
- Coordinating daily office activities, greeting patients, and checking patients in and out for their appointments
