The Lillian and Betty Ratner Montessori School, founded in 1963, is a coeducational independent Montessori school for students aged 18 months through 8th Grade. We offer small classes taught by a distinguished faculty and a rich program of academics, athletics and the arts. The school operates on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Pepper Pike, Ohio, a suburb on the east side of Cleveland. Job Description:
The Elementary II Lead Guide leads one of two Elementary II (grades 4 – 6) classrooms; together the guides in the program have general responsibility for teaching Montessori Elementary II Levels in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies (the following subjects are covered by specialists outside of the classroom: Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish). Collaboration with the subject specialists as well as the other classroom teachers is expected. The Elementary II guides will create a positive learning environment, and communicate well and frequently about classroom dynamics with colleagues and administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● In collaboration with the other Elementary II guides, design and implement curricular plan for the year for the Elementary II students
● Attend full faculty/staff and committee meetings
● Perform other duties as discussed with the Head of School, those being primarily to teach the Montessori curriculum, supervise, and care for the students
● Work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the school
● Work collegially with administration and fellow Montessorians, and grow professionally.
● Support the mission and philosophy of the School and to perform the duties in a professional manner and in compliance with any rules, regulations, and requirements established by the School, as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.

Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have:
● Bachelor’s degree in addition to Montessori Elementary II Certification.
● Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate effective classroom skills and strong communication skills.
● A sense of humor is essential!
Salary
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
