The Senior Estimator / Project Manager (EPM) reports directly to the Chief Estimator of the company. The position will assist with many facets of the estimating department, including project submittals, sample requests, material procurement, shop drawing development, and quoting primarily commercial projects for all Rosa Mosaic products.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Estimate and Bidding Responsibilities:
● Estimate material and labor quantities from architectural drawings and specifications to bid projects.
● Issue quotations in a timely manner based on completed estimates.
● Develop project-related questions directed to architects for clarifications to ensure complete information is gathered prior to bid dates and documented for field personnel after contract award.
Shop Drawings and Documentation:
● Develop shop drawings indicating patterns, details, field layout, custom designs, and locations of various materials.
● Manage submittal process, including sample requests, product data, LEED information, and shop drawings, with a view to bringing material costs for projects within or under budget.
Budget and Procurement:
● Understand and maintain budgets during material procurement for projects under contract.
● Establish order dates based on current construction schedules, procure materials to meet established project start dates, and maintain updated progress schedules.
Project Management and Coordination:
● Attend initial project meetings for construction schedules and updates.
● Respond effectively and promptly to external requests for budget pricing and pre-bid samples from architects, designers, and construction managers.
● Assist general contractors and construction managers with value engineering for projects exhibiting budget constraints.
Relationship and Professional Development:
● Nurture and maintain good relationships with customers and suppliers.
● Proactively participate in industry training to stay current on new products, installation methods, and other innovations.
Desired Skills and Experience
● Minimum of five or more years of building products industry experience in project administration, customer service, or operations is preferred.
● Undergraduate/trade/design school education preferred, or equivalent experience required.
● Experience in the construction industry and finish elements is a plus.
● Experience with CAD software is a plus but not required.
Skills and Competencies:
● Competent in Microsoft Office suite of products and enterprise resource planning software.
● Adept at being clear and concise with verbal and written communications.
● Superior interpersonal skills to communicate with high-level technical expertise and clarity.
