In the role of Assistant Production Manager, you will leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to acquire new capabilities and enhance the overall success of our team within a clean and secure environment. Your primary responsibility will focus on the production aspects focused in overseeing warehouse operations and collaborating with facility production areas. Reporting directly to the Senior Production Manager, you are expected to showcase strong technical and planning proficiency, expertise in lean manufacturing principles, and a thorough understanding of warehouse systems and inventory optimization to support all aspects of the production value cycles. This position will have direct reports in scheduling, warehousing and operations reporting to them while also having the skill set to fill in technically for the Senior Production Manger as needed
Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Understand all aspects of the value stream
- Troubleshooting existing lines and implementing production improvements
- Actively back up the Senior Production Manager as needed
- Have cross training in the full technical production process
Demand & Production Planning:
- Oversee the Development and implementation of demand and production plans to meet customer requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers for accurate demand forecasting and scheduling adjustments
- Monitor production plans for flexibility based on changes in demand and resource availability
- Implement lean manufacturing principles for streamlined production processes.
Warehouse Management:
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including efficient storage and retrieval of goods
- Serve as a backup for the Warehouse Lead, providing support as necessary to maintain continuity in operations
- Manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts and optimize stock holding
- Supervise the setup and maintenance of additional storage solutions like tents or facilities on and off site
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in the warehouse
- Lead and formulate 5S initiatives to enhance organization, cleanliness, and efficiency throughout the facility
Procurement and Inventory Management:
- Lead planning & delivery of raw, packaging, and auxiliaries' materials, fostering vendor relationships
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and maintain optimal stock levels
- Utilize inventory management systems for effective tracking and categorization
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory data
Skills:
- Collaborative team leader for operational excellence with strong communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve warehouse/planning challenges as well technical production issues
- Efficient in warehouse systems and inventory software
- Proficient in demand, production, and warehouse optimization with experience with procurement, inventory
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant field or work experience commensurate with education
- Minimum of 7 years manufacturing management experience
- Preferred plastics manufacturing management experience
