Nowak Construction Co., Inc. is an underground utility contractor based out of Goddard, Kansas that works throughout the state of Kansas. We participate in the construction of capital improvements, residential and commercial development projects, and the installation of energy and communications infrastructure.
This position works directly with the Superintendent and Project Manager to deliver the results that meet and exceed our customer’s expectations. The ideal candidate should have advanced experienced as a supervisor or a foreman in the Civil Construction industry. The Foreman position will be responsible for directly leading specialized excavation and pipe crew to perform the necessary work designated by our project management. The position is also responsible for consistently incorporating and reinforcing the company’s safety initiatives into each construction task.
Responsibilities of Utility Foreman
· Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems.
· Knowledge and ability to work with pipe lasers, water pumps, and small hand/power tools.
· Knowledge of reading grade stakes and/or site plans.
· Help identify any underground and overhead utilities have been located / exposed prior to excavating.
· Check slopes for conformance to requirements using levels or lasers.
· Leading a crew of 5-10 employees.
· Maintaining daily logs, tracking and reporting employee time, and daily maintenance reports.
· Supervise, schedule, and coordinate crew activities.
· Ensure necessary equipment and materials are scheduled.
· Proactively identifies needs, opportunities, and problems.
· Appropriately solves problems and/or timely communicates needs to management.
· Ensure the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
Qualifications of Utility Foreman
· Leading a crew of 5-10 employees.
· Maintaining daily logs, tracking and reporting employee time, and daily maintenance reports.
· Supervise, schedule, and coordinate crew activities.
· Ensure necessary equipment and materials are scheduled.
· Proactively identifies needs, opportunities, and problems.
· Appropriately solves problems and/or timely communicates needs to management.
· Ensure the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
· Must be able to travel within to job locations and surrounding areas to possibly include CO, MO, and OK.
· Two years of laying sewer, water and storm drain pipe.
· Understands plan reading, shooting and understand grades, setting up pipe laser.
· Successful completion of pre-employment MVR, background, and drug screen.
