Summary: Digital Transformation Engineer is a dual role that encompasses the engineering aspect of North Star’s MES environment, along with operational support responsibilities for the development and support of the Company’s Digital Transformation technologies. This role will partner with the business and internal IT teams, to deliver and support North Star’s modern Digital solutions. This role will have the opportunity to assist in leading key digital transformation projects from architecture to technical implementation. Key technologies will include MES and other digital transformation platforms.

Engineering the Digital Transformation to help reduce the barriers to change and allows the discreet plant areas to analyze their processes and creating a systematic approach to continuous improvement.

Assisting, designing, and implementing digital transformation projects across all aspects for the business.

Maintaining, expanding, and scaling the company’s myriad of web applications and technologies focusing on Digital Transformation using technologies like JavaScript, Python, AI, machine learning and C#

Gather and document business requirements and technical specifications.

Create and maintain software documentation.

Responsible for maintaining and supporting the operation of the SMS MES environment including integration technologies.

Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.

Supports process change implementation by evaluating against business requirements and completing necessary system updates and supporting documentation updates.

Work with IT/OT peers and contractors to ensure the integration of design with back-end technology to meet end user needs.

Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.

Assisting with architecting and implementation of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) modules and system integration solutions accordance to the company’s digital transformation strategy

Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best and secure software development practices.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field.

Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to capture detailed business requirements.

Strong problem-solving skills

Strong programming and database technologies

Solid understanding of the steel making process

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.

Understanding of systems and business processes that support the steel making plant.
