Job Description
This position reports to the Douglas Pronghorn location. The Pipeline Technician operates and maintains terminals and/or pipeline facilities including; tanks, pipeline pumping stations, LACTs and gathering facilities to ensure accurate and safe transportation and storage of products. He or she assists with petroleum product movements in and out of pipeline terminals and/or pump stations. The incumbent will be subject to call outs for work associated with field operations and/or emergency response.
Responsibilities:
Performs tasks associated with pipeline movements and measurements
Gathers samples/perform sampling as needed. Perform routine station checks
Responsible for storage of products, custody transfers activities with connecting carriers and customers
Uses tools and techniques to accurately assess quantity and quality of crude oil and/or refined products
Performs general facility maintenance to include tanks, valves, and pumping equipment
Performs right-of-way activities (location and marking of pipeline assets, providing excavation supervision and communicating right-of-way concerns, etc.)
Generates computerized work requests for maintenance tasks and coordinate and communicate maintenance activities
Performs activities for normal/abnormal operations, including providing emergency response
Responds to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties
Physically inspects right-of-way in response to integrity issues
Participates in drills and training for emergency response preparedness and initiate Emergency Response and perform designated field response
Performs work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements
Learns and become proficient in appropriate secondary skills (Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, etc.) as needs of the business requires
Completes all required training. Assist in the training of other employees
Routinely drives company truck to various company locations
Performs shift work as applicable, with overtime as necessary
Respond to call-outs on an as-needed basis
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
Must be able to successfully complete Haz-Mat training, safety awareness training and any related required training and certifications
Should be able to use a variety of tools and equipment including compressors, pumps, mixers, hydrometers, centrifuges, sulfur machines, gauge lines, temperature and H2S monitors, line locators, SCBA, fire extinguishers and scrapers
Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.
Previous crude oil pipeline experience required
Physical Demands:
Typically works in the outdoor environment in adverse heat and cold in awkward positions. Occasionally lifts loads in excess of 60 pounds and exert pushing and pulling forces to situate/align the equipment. Other physical requirements may include but not limited to climbing, stooping, bending, lifting and walking in all types of terrain.

Works outdoors in open environment with extremes of heat and cold
