This position is a member of our Houston Region Office.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience interpreting environmental regulations and/or reviewing or evaluating environmental permits.
- Experience conducting inspections and/or investigations.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...
- Prioritize, plan, and conduct investigations; prepare reports to document field activities and observed conditions. Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
- Conduct enforcement and follow-up activities in accordance with Enforcement Initiation Criteria
- Provide technical assistance and information to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations. Perform other technical assistance activities, including coordinating and/or participating in the collection of records, technical data, research or analysis as a result of public information requests. Participate on committees and attends meetings, seminars, or workshops as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required.
OR
Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
